Wellness Think Tank resident scheduling and wellness survey

2017 National EM Resident Scheduling and Wellness Survey

Survey dates: May 10-July 31, 2017

Should my residency program have 8, 9, or 12 hour shifts?
How many Emergency Department shifts are residents doing?
Does shift scheduling coordinate with resident wellness?

We each have our assumptions about scheduling and wellness for residency training. Excluding the conversation about the ideal number of Emergency Department shifts that provide adequate clinical training, this national survey seeks to answer the above questions.

This survey is phase 2 in our research agenda to more deeply explore resident wellness in Emergency Medicine, following our highly successful 2017 National EM Resident Wellness Survey held in March 2017.

Participate in this 3- minute survey

If you currently manage and know the intricacies of your program’s resident Emergency Department schedule (chief resident, program director, associate/assistant program director, program coordinator), we would love if you could fill out this brief survey.

Why fill out the survey?

  1. Five random lucky people who completed surveys on or before July 31, 2017 will be entered to win a $20 Starbucks gift card!
  2. Help us put an answer to the age-old question regarding resident ED shift schedules and wellness.

What will we do with your survey data?

We will NOT be sharing your program-specific data publicly. We hope to publish a nation-wide report in a peer-reviewed journal linking scheduling with wellness amongst EM residents. This study has been IRB approved by New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.
