The Tricks of the Trade Series was one of the very first ALiEM series which started in 2009. This began as an offshoot of Dr. Michelle Lin’s “Tricks of the Trade” national lecture series. What started as a general repository of her lecture content has grown into a full series of over 100 curated tricks submitted by clinicians from around the world. These tricks provide workarounds and novel troubleshooting tips when clinicians encounter hurdles, such as missing necessary equipment, or have a slightly better/faster/safer approach to a standard technique. These “style points” tips often are not published in textbooks but rather passed on from experts to learners on a word-of-mouth basis.
