As a result of publishing a multitude of individual blog posts, we have been able to assemble some into comprehensive print and digital books. We have evolved to include an academic publishing house for books. All of the books are free and open access except where noted.

For five years (2013-2018), the ALiEM team worked hard to bring you simulated cases about sticky situations in medical education in the Medical Education in Cases (MEdIC) Series. Ranging from assessment and feedback to handling co-workers, this created a must-read series that took the #FOAMed world by storm.

The Tricks of the Trade book print book, featuring our favorite Tricks of the Trade pearls, was authored by Drs. Michelle Lin, Mary Haas, Bryan Hayes, and Nikita Joshi. This was our first self-published book.

Ultrasound For the Win

The best of the Ultrasound for the Win ALiEM blog series was collected and published in this print book, authored by Dr. Jeff Shih and Dr. Michelle Lin. This collection of cases is geared towards anyone interested in learning more about point-of-care ultrasound, including medical students, residents, pre-hospital personnel, and physicians.

Emergency Medicine Resident Simulation Curriculum for Pediatrics (EM ReSCu Peds)

As part of an ten-organization collaboration, led by Chief Editor Dr. Rebekah Burns, this free EM ReSCu Peds eBook is an educator’s detailed guide in using high-fidelity simulation to teach emergency medicine residents pediatric emergency medicine. The simulation curriculum consists of 16 resuscitation cases involving acutely injured or ill children.

The McMaster Modular Assessment Program (McMAP) e-books contain assessment tools developed by clinician educators at McMaster University. They contain activities and assessment tools that can be used in the clinical environment.
